Conor’s Blog

I’ve spent nearly 20 years working in telecoms, starting out at Vodafone, then moving through some of the biggest names like T-Mobile, BlackBerry, and Samsung, before landing here at the GSMA, where I’ve been for about 3.5 years. I’m now the Senior Director for GSMA Industry Services & GSMA Intelligence. In short, my role is all about providing solutions, services, and data to help the telecoms industry thrive.

Outside of work, I’m a pretty active person—I love walking, running, hiking, music, dancing, and, of course, traveling whenever I get the chance. Home for me is London, where I live with my wife and two boys, aged 11 and 14. They’re at that fun, energetic stage of life, so it’s always go, go, go in our household!

GSMA has a fantastic culture. We have this saying that we’re “Passionately Driven, Insightful Leaders, Stronger Together.” It’s more than just a motto—it’s a real way of working and connecting. People here are truly driven by the goal of making a positive impact, not only within our teams but across the whole telecoms ecosystem.

Not too long ago, I had a serious health scare. I developed a severely herniated disc—a slipped disk, as some would call it—which was so bad I couldn’t sit down for more than eight weeks! Thanks to GSMA’s healthcare benefits, I was able to get an MRI and eventually have surgery, followed by physiotherapy for recovery. Without the GSMA health plan, this would have cost me around £7,000, so I feel incredibly grateful to have had this support. The surgery was about nine weeks ago, and I’m thrilled to say I’m fully recovered—I can actually sit down again! It’s been life-changing in more ways than one.

GSMA has made a world of difference for me, both professionally and personally.
