Dr. Ali Taha Koç is the Chief Executive Officer of Turkcell, the only company in Türkiye that is dual-listed on both the NYSE and Borsa Istanbul, serving more than 43 million customers.

He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Mobile Telecommunication Operators Association of Türkiye (m-TOD) and a board member of the International GSM Association (GSMA), Turkish electric car manufacturer TOGG, and Siro, which develops energy storage solutions for automotive and non-automotive use in Türkiye and the surrounding markets.

Born in Ankara in 1980, Koç completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University in 2001 with a full scholarship. He later pursued advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas, also with full scholarships, earning both his master’s and doctorate degrees.

Ali Taha Koç began his career at Intel in the United States in 2006 as an R&D engineer. During his tenure, he achieved notable success, developing 61 patents, publishing 23 scientific papers, and leading several international projects. In 2013, he was acknowledged as one of Intel’s top 10 patent-developing engineers.

In 2014, Koç returned to Türkiye, where he assumed key governmental roles, including Chief Counsellor to the Prime Ministry and Head of Information Technologies at the Presidency. Among his significant contributions was establishing the State Information Coordination Center within the Presidency’s Security Policies Department, streamlining critical information flow between ministries and security units.

In 2018, he was appointed as Head of the Digital Transformation Office, driving Türkiye’s digital agenda and serving as a board member of Türksat Satellite Communications.

A licensed pilot and fluent in English, Dr. Ali Taha Koç is married and has one child.
