5G will create massive value for all industries. According to the GSMA’s Mobile Economy Asia Pacific 2024 report, 5G is expected to add almost $130 billion to the Asia Pacific economy in 2030, with the manufacturing industry forecast to benefit the most, driven by new 5G-enabed applications including smart factories, smart-grids, and IoT-enabled products.
In the Asia-Pacific region, the development of 5GtoB is advancing at an unprecedented pace. We are witnessing large-scale deployment across sectors such as healthcare, mining, oil and gas, and manufacturing. Notably, the evolution of 5G in this region is accelerating from isolated applications to comprehensive systems, and from supporting roles to core production capabilities.
The GSMA’s APAC 5G Industry Community is helping the ecosystem to realise the full potential of 5G networks to benefit society. We hope the compelling case studies in this report will inspire stakeholders from across the business and policy communities to maximise the potential of 5G to benefit all of APAC’s people.
