GSMA’s Terence Wong reflects on the growing momentum behind digital healthcare and the role of 5G in supporting real-world clinical use cases.
He highlights the breadth of the healthcare ecosystem brought together at the event, including government ministries, hospital operators, surgeons, clinical experts, mobile operators, data scientists and technology providers. Across the discussions, speakers shared lessons from digital transformation programmes, including the challenges they have faced and the progress made by early pioneers.
Terence points to growing 5G deployment in healthcare across the region, including hospitals in Singapore and Malaysia, where connectivity is already supporting a wide range of use cases. In his view, this demonstrates that 5G in healthcare is no longer just a concept, but a technology being applied in practice.
Looking ahead, he also highlights the opportunities that future 5G evolution and 6G could create, alongside the importance of continued collaboration between the mobile and healthcare sectors to scale impact internationally.
