GSMA Foundry, in partnership with Mobile World Capital Barcelona and B Lab Spain, were proud to launch the Mobile World Capital Barcelona International Sustainable Technology Awards 2026 at MWC25 Kigali. These awards recognise and celebrate the most innovative projects driving responsible digital transition. These projects contribute to the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while creating a positive impact on society.
Following the success of the first edition of the MWCapital Awards in 2025, which attracted 157 projects from 34 countries, these awards promote and give visibility to the best international innovations that use technology to tackle major social and environmental challenges through digital transformation. These are projects where AI, big data, blockchain, or smart sensors unleash their full potential for the common good, harnessing advanced technologies to address urgent global issues such as inequality, climate change, access to healthcare, urban management, or digital inclusion, among others.
MWCapital Awards 2026
The second edition of the MWCapital Awards 2026 attracted 298 applications from 62 countries, with 65% of submissions coming from international initiatives.

This represents a 63% growth in participating companies compared to the first edition, highlighting the global interest in technology solutions that address social and environmental challenges.
The applications coming from a diverse ecosystem leverage emerging technologies including AI, advanced connectivity, data technologies, blockchain, and IoT, applied to areas such as health, agriculture, urban management, climate change and digital inclusion.
An expert panel will now evaluate the proposals based on innovation, technological maturity, scalability, and potential impact. 15 Finalists will advance to the final stage.
