GSMA Member Comprion recently announced a strategic partnership with Thales strengthening its capabilities to support the deployment of the new GSMA SGP.32 eSIM architecture for IoT devices. The objective of this collaboration is to provide market participants – including EUMs, chipset and device manufacturers, mobile network operators, software providers, and cloud providers – with a reliable, standards-based testing and validation environment.
With the introduction of the GSMA SGP.32 specification, the eSIM ecosystem is being expanded to include new key components, including the eIM (eUICC IoT Manager) and the IPA (IoT Profile Assistant). The architecture simplifies provisioning and lifecycle management of eSIMs for IoT applications, while at the same time increasing the requirements for seamless interaction among the involved components.
As SGP.32 enables a more open ecosystem model, early and detailed attention to technical interoperability between eIM, IPA, and eUICC is becoming increasingly important.
Joint Test Environment for IoT eSIM Based on SGP.32
As part of the partnership, Comprion and Thales are establishing a dedicated test environment for end-to-end validation of solutions based on the GSMA SGP.32 specification.
The environment is built on Comprion’s testing products, eUICC Profile Manager and Comprion Network Bridge, and enables end-to-end testing based on the GSMA SGP.32 specifications to validate functional and interoperability aspects. Thales provides a GSMA-compliant eUICC card with pre-integrated IPAe to equip devices under testing.
“With SGP.32, new roles and interfaces are emerging that must be technically aligned with precision. Our joint test environment creates transparency in this early market phase and gives market participants and developers the opportunity to validate their implementations in a structured way,” says Dr. Marcus Dormanns, Director Product Management & Business Development at Comprion.
As part of the collaboration, Thales and Comprion have also tested the interoperability of their respective products against each other. This includes the Thales Multisim IoT eUICC (industrial and automotive grade), Thales SGP.32 IPAe and the Comprion testing infrastructure components eIM, SM-DP+ and IPAd as reference implementation.
This provides users with an additional level of confidence in standards compliance, including testing all standardized SGP.32 commands and functionalities in an appropriate test environment.
Technical Validation Under Realistic Conditions
By combining Comprion’s test tools with Thales’ GSMA-compliant eUICC implementation, a practical environment is created for validating implementations in accordance with SGP.32 standard.
Companies are thus provided with a solid foundation to identify integration risks at an early stage and securely embed their solutions into complex IoT architectures.

Support for Developers and Third-Party Providers
The joint test environment enables third-party eIM and IPA developers to analyse, identify, and resolve interoperability issues supported by Comprion tools and consulting services. This accelerates their development and integration cycles.
