IPification launches industry’s first Open-Source Universal Authentication SDK

GSMA Member IPification, the global leader in adaptive, multi-channel mobile authentication, recently announced the launch of the industry’s first Open Source Universal Authentication SDK. This CAMARA-compatible solution is designed to simplify the adoption of GSMA Open Gateway standards, providing developers with a single, auditable integration point for multi-channel phone verification and user authentication.
While the GSMA Open Gateway initiative has successfully standardized network APIs for over 80% of global mobile connections, enterprises and mobile-first solutions still face significant fragmentation in how these APIs are implemented across different markets and carrier backends. The IPification Universal SDK solves this “adoption gap” by providing a unified, open-source layer that handles the complex logic of cross-carrier and cross-API-channel authentication.

One SDK, Universal Reach

IPIfication’s Universal Authentication SDK is a configurable decision engine designed to handle multiple authentication API channels. It moves beyond static authentication methods by introducing a real-time fallback waterfall system. Instead of picking a single authentication API channel, the SDK probes network conditions and carrier availability in real time, routing each request through the most secure and efficient available method, including SIM-based authentication, IP-based silent phone number verification, or IM/OTP fallbacks.

We’ve handled the complex connectivity, supporting multi-channel authentication and dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 routing so they can focus on building their core product.” The Universal Authentication SDK is a foundation on which each mobile app developer can build and use additional telecom intelligence signals for user onboarding, account protection, and fraud prevention.

Key Technical Elements:

  • Built-in Fallback for Multiple Authentication API Channels: A real-time decision loop falls back to secondary channels when primary network signals are unavailable. The rooting is based on the configured channel order, and it is programmable.
  • Automated Connectivity Handling: The SDK automatically switches to cellular data for authentication requests, bypassing Wi-Fi without disrupting the user experience.
  • Dual-Stack API Handling: detection and routing for both IPv4 and IPv6 rely on network-level logic to ensure compatibility with modern carrier network architectures.
  • Zero-Tap Onboarding: Supports phone number pre-population via SIM or Google Hint, enabling silent number verification in under two seconds. This applies only to Android devices.
  • Global Scale: IPification can reach over 4.9 billion people across 40 live and 20 deploying markets, including the US, UK, Germany, India, China, Indonesia, and more.
