Operator Membership 

Operator Membership is designed for organisations that own and operate mobile network infrastructure using licensed spectrum. 

With more than 700 mobile network operators participating in GSMA Membership, members collaborate with peers worldwide on the technologies, standards, roaming frameworks and operational practices that underpin the global mobile ecosystem. 

This type of membership is designed specifically for organisations that own and operate public mobile networks. It supports their participation in industry-wide initiatives, operational frameworks and standards that help mobile networks interoperate at a global scale. 

Rapporteur Membership 

Rapporteur Membership is intended for organisations delivering mobile connectivity services without owning licensed spectrum or full network infrastructure. Typical Rapporteur Members include MVNOs, neutral host providers and organisations delivering mobile connectivity services through operator partnerships. 

Rapporteur Members work alongside operators and other stakeholders, contributing to GSMA collaboration, technical activities and industry initiatives. They may also engage with GSMA tools and frameworks that support interoperability and roaming services. 

This membership type is typically suited to organisations that rely on mobile networks to deliver services and want to work closely with operators to shape how those services function in practice.

Industry Membership 

Industry Membership is aimed at organisations across the wider mobile ecosystem that provide technology, solutions and services. 

This includes: 

• Equipment vendors
• Device manufacturers
• Software providers
• Technology and service partners 

These organisations collaborate closely with operators and other stakeholders to develop, implement and scale new capabilities across the industry. Industry Members participate in GSMA activities such as Working Groups, contributing expertise to standards development, interoperability and the evolution of mobile technologies. 

Industry Members range from global technology companies and equipment vendors to specialist service providers and software businesses operating across the mobile ecosystem. 

Industry Membership is particularly suited to organisations looking to influence how technologies are developed and adopted across the ecosystem. Organisations in sectors such as manufacturing, fintech or automotive may also choose this membership type where they want to actively participate in technical collaboration and standards discussions. 

Community Membership 

Community Membership offers a flexible, sector-focused way for organisations to engage with the GSMA. It provides access to a growing range of communities centred on specific technology areas and industry challenges, including AI, Non-Terrestrial Networks, Connected Manufacturing, Private Networks, IoT and Fintech.  

Community Members can participate in one or more communities, depending on their interests and business priorities. Communities focus on knowledge sharing, best practice, industry insight and collaboration around real-world challenges and opportunities. Community Membership is available to both Technology Providers and Technology Adopters, enabling organisations to engage with relevant technologies, industry peers and emerging use cases. 

Unlike other membership types, Community Membership does not include participation in GSMA Working Groups, making it a suitable option for organisations focused on application, innovation, networking and industry engagement rather than standards development. 

Academic Membership 

Academic Membership is available to universities and research institutions contributing to mobile research, innovation and standards development, enabling them to engage with industry stakeholders and relevant GSMA activities.

Industry Membership offers full participation in GSMA Working Groups and standards activities, while Community Membership provides a more focused form of engagement centred on specific sectors, technologies and use cases.
