GSMA FASG #32

Start: Tuesday 24 June 2025

End: Thursday 26 June 2025

Birmingham, UK hosted by BT Group

About GSMA FASG #32

Mobile devices have become the new frontier for financial fraud, with attackers employing both digital and physical tactics to compromise user accounts. This has a huge impact on consumers, who were defrauded out of $1 trillion dollars in 2023, impacting a quarter of the world’s population according to a GASA survey, and triggering the intervention of governments and regulators. We will explore the evolving landscape of mobile device and network threats, examining how mobile technologies are used to deliver scam messages and calls to target devices to steal credentials and drain financial accounts. Beyond the digital realm, we’ll explore the alarming trend of physical device theft, where criminals exploit stolen devices to bypass security measures and access financial data. Attendees will gain insights into the latest attack vectors, real-world case studies, and practical strategies to mitigate the risks associated with the current attack landscape.

The meeting will explore the following topics:

  • Digital Threats
  • (e)SIM Swapping
  • Physical & Proximity Based Threats

We will also explore how these threats differ geographically as the approaches taken by threat actors are not globally consistent.
