A framework to understand women’s mobile-related safety concerns in low-and middle-income countries image

There is a paradoxical relationship between mobile technology and women’s safety; while access to a mobile can make a woman feel safer, mobiles can also be a conduit for threats and these can act as a barrier to access and usage. Based on stakeholder interviews, primary qualitative research and secondary research, this report provides a framework to understand women’s mobile-related safety concerns in low- and middle-income countries. It also investigates and maps existing initiatives that tackle safety concerns and provides actionable recommendations for stakeholders on how to address them.
