The Humanitarian Connectivity Charter: Partnerships in Crisis
This session shared lessons from Humanitarian Connectivity Charter signatories on how they’ve successfully partnered with humanitarians to provide support during times of crisis. First, two publications were shared briefly outlining lessons learned documents on the subject – Building a Resilient Industry and Partnering During Crisis. Afterwards, three mobile network operators (MNOs) discussed the lessons they have learned from past experiences with sudden onset natural disasters, as well as the recent COVID-19 response. A variety of responses were shared, from how MNOs supported connectivity for their customers to mobile money adjustments, along with partnership models and practical lessons for MNOs looking to engage further in this sector.
