GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024 set to gather global innovators, creators and business leaders  

29 May 2024, London: MWC Shanghai, the leading connectivity event in the Asia Pacific region, is returning to Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) and Kerry Hotel Pudong from 26 – 28 June 2024. Attendees and exhibitors will convene for a dynamic agenda of keynote sessions, conference tracks and showcases across five halls, including Future Tech halls and the Super Hall. Under the umbrella theme of Future First, MWC Shanghai’s sub-themes are 5G and Beyond, AI Economy and Manufacturing DX.  

What to look forward to at MWC Shanghai 2024 

During MWC Shanghai, the GSMA is hosting the finalists of the GSMA-China Telecom Open Gateway Hackathon which takes place over the course of 48 hours, 23-25 June 2024. The aim is for participants to transform the capabilities of the telecommunications services into innovative solutions for business and social impact. The awards ceremony will take place 28 June 2024 at the Open Gateway DevCon at MWC Shanghai, which showcases the evolving landscape of network APIs.  

GSMA Foundry team will be on hand at the GSMA Pavilion to share insights about how to take part in the GSMA Foundry IBM AI Challenge. Launched in January this year, the challenge’s focus is on practical, scalable applications that enhance telecom operations, customer experience and network efficiency. With access to IBM’s watsonx.ai, GSMA members have the opportunity to create generative artificial intelligence ideas from sandbox concept stage to commercial reality.     

As digital technologies become ubiquitous in all aspects of our lives, telecoms has transformed into a horizontal industry across all sectors in our connected world. Fresh from MWC Barcelona and new for MWC Shanghai, Connected Industries is featured on the show floor for the first time this year. This dedicated area for connected businesses and organisations will take a region-specific focus at MWC Shanghai, under the themes of Manufacturing and Smart Mobility.

5G IN returns to MWC Shanghai and promises to dazzle attendees with the creative ways start-ups are working to harness the capabilities of 5G and technology-related innovations such as AI, edge computing and AR/VR. With 5G connections in China set to account for nearly a third of the global total by 2030, with 1 billion 5G connections in China this year, 5G IN provides the ideal platform for businesses to showcase their services.  

Industry Leaders will have the opportunity to participate in the 6th edition of the Digital Leaders Programme (DLP) for exclusive executive dialogues, and join policymakers at regional roundtables dedicated to APAC, LATAM, MENA and Africa with senior stakeholders from China.  

The Asian Mobile Awards (AMOs) are the Asian connectivity industry’s most commended accolade which recognise, honour and celebrate the individuals, teams and organisations that strive to better the world through connectivity. The winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award will be announced during Keynote 1, with the rest of the winners  announced on stage during Keynote 3.
