Best practices for securing 5G (Pre-registration required)

Time: 8:30 – 9:30 (60 mins)

5G is reforming the telecommunication industry due to enhanced features; ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC),and Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC). 5G will change the way people connect, it will change the way business groups and organizations operate. Such a spectrum of services changes inevitably causes network and technology changes. With the deployment of fresh network architectures and adoption of new technologies our industry has to confront new cyber-attacks which are more complex, more powerful, and more harmful. 5G makes network boundaries less clear and meanwhile more dynamic; tools such as Service Based Architecture (SBA),mobile edge computing (MEC) and network slicing are designed to improve security for the verticals operating in this environment. To solve these security challenges, we need the collaboration of the entire ecosystem, this operator only session will explore what all stakeholders can do to play their part in securing the 5G ecosystem.

Activity in the wireless networks space is increasingly busy from a supply of solutions point of view, which suggests that the mobile ecosystem is anticipating high demand from enterprise adopters, whose digital transformation requires mobile connectivity and, subsequently, IoT.  However, despite the growing importance of IoT security, wireless solution vendors are yet to prioritise it in their offerings.

This thought-provoking session takes a deeper look into some of the key security dynamics such as systems and device security, government regulation and security testing.
