Bharti Airtel works to improve knowledge and skills in India

Challenge

In rural India, challenges in education include inadequate infrastructure, limited access to high-quality teachers, low enrolment rates and socioeconomic barriers.

Solution

Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, started operations in 2000, to bring about a transformation in the education and living conditions of children in rural India.

The Foundation has engaged in formulating and executing educational programmes at the primary, secondary and tertiary education levels, and offers free education to underprivileged children, creating opportunities that enable their holistic development.

Impact

An example of a beneficiary of the Bharti Airtel Foundation is Champa Ram, an alumnus of Satya Bharti School, Jatibhandu, Jodhpur, who recently secured admission to the IIT Madras Department of Civil Engineering56. He comes from a remote village in Rajasthan where the Bharti Foundation opened a Satya Bharti School. As of September 2020, there were 183 schools in six India states under the Bharti Foundation’s Satya Bharti School Program.
