GSMA Thrive Africa: AI for Impact Session “Using Mobile Big Data Analytics and AI to combat Covid-19”
Overview
With the Covid-19 pandemic spreading across the globe, governments seek innovative and dynamic solutions to make the right decisions at the right time, both to save lives as well as minimise the long-term impact on vulnerable communities and the economy. Mobile operators are in a unique position to add value with many having developed capabilities to develop tools, reports and dashboards leveraging aggregated and anonymised mobile network insights. These can support decision-making and policy setting to tackle significant challenges including health epidemics, climate action and disaster preparedness.
This session will describe the impact these products and services can realise through real-world examples, explain key policy and privacy considerations to ensure consumers are protected, and share lessons learned on how to build successful cross-sector collaborations, products and services.
- Why are governments leveraging mobile big data analytics solutions to tackle Covid-19?
- What have we learnt from solutions deployed so far?
- How can good solutions be replicated?
- What needs to happen to be better prepared (for a future epidemic)?
