Everphone’s mission is to revolutionise the way organisations handle mobile devices. Device as a Service (DaaS) is an innovative B2B rental service that focuses on three aspects: relief of the customers’ IT, flawless user experience, and more sustainability. Everphone currently manages around 400,000 devices for customers focusing on large companies and pushing further into the public sector.
There are three circularity principles at the core of Everphone’s business model: reduce, reuse, and refurbish.
Firstly, the number of smartphones is reduced by combining professional and private usage. This is achieved by mobile device management (MDM) software that separates company data from private data. DaaS comes with a co-payment option: employees can choose their own devices and do not need to purchase a separate private device.
Secondly, the service encourages extending the useful life of the devices. Maximising their useful life is preferred over recycling since only a fraction of materials are actually recovered through recycling systems today. Everphone encourages customers to use the devices longer by granting discounts and contributing to reforestation projects.
If a device is returned, it is refurbished and either used in a second rental lifecycle or sold after a thorough data erasure. This is the case with 99% of Everphone’s returns. Only devices broken beyond repair are disposed of through professional recycling.
By applying the principles of reduce, reuse, and refurbish, Everphone helps cut the number of devices needed, extends their lifespan, and ensures nearly all returned devices are refurbished or responsibly recycled.
