The company

Helium Health Helium Health improves global health efficiencies and outcomes using data and technology.

The problem

During natural disasters such as floods, people in Delta State and Bayelsa State in Nigeria cannot travel to health clinics to receive the healthcare services they need. The 2022 floods damaged more than 22.9% of health facilities, highlighting the dire need for more resilient healthcare systems and continuity of care. It is therefore critical that during disasters such as floods, vulnerable community members have access to timely medical advice, diagnoses and prescriptions without the need for travel, which is often impossible during floods.

GSMA project

In November 2024, Helium Health received a GSMA grant to enhance the HeliumDoc platform by integrating it with geospatial mapping, USSD functionality and robocall alerts. The HeliumDoc platform provides remote consultations and secure access to health records in Nigeria’s flood-prone regions.
