The company
Metaschool AI is an AI-powered learning platform designed to provide personalised, curriculum-aligned tutoring to all Ghanaian students. It aims to bridge the educational gap by offering accessible, affordable, and exam-focused support for national assessments like Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The problem
Across Ghana, thousands of students are being left behind by an education system struggling to keep pace with their needs. Classrooms are overcrowded, teachers are overstretched, and learning materials are often outdated or unavailable. For many students in rural communities, quality instruction is a privilege, not a guarantee.
The introduction of the double-track system has made this challenge even greater. Under this arrangement, students spend about four months in school and another four months at home before returning for the next academic session. During these long breaks, many learners lose touch with their studies and forget much of what they have been taught. Without consistent academic engagement, progress is disrupted and performance declines.
Metaschool AI is solving this problem by transforming the national curriculum into engaging, Al-powered voice and video lessons that every student can access on any device, including basic feature phones. Whether learners are in school or on break, online or offline, Metaschool AI keeps them connected to their lessons, reinforces retention, and helps them build lasting understanding. It creates a bridge between learning gaps and continuous progress, ensuring that every Ghanaian student has the chance to learn, grow, and excel all year round.
GSMA project
In November 2025, Metaschool AI received a fund to scale an AI-powered learning platform that provides personalised, curriculum-aligned tutoring for Ghanaian students across all device types. Key activities include expanding mobile and USSD/SMS access for low-connectivity areas, enhancing core features such as video lessons, interactive quizzes, progress dashboards, and integrating voice support with localised content. Through the existing partnership with MTN, the platform will benefit from affordable data plans, creating a scalable, low-cost model. This will help improve the learning outcomes of students preparing for their final exams, helping close the education gap for millions of students.
A message from the founders
“We started Metaschool AI with one belief: that every Ghanaian student deserves continuous access to quality learning, no matter where they live or what device they use. We saw bright minds lose momentum during long double-track breaks, not because of a lack of potential, but because learning stops when classrooms close. Our mission is to keep learning alive all year round through AI-powered voice and video lessons built from Ghana’s national curriculum. By making education accessible, affordable, and exam-focused, we are helping students stay prepared, confident, and ready to succeed in BECE, WASSCE, and beyond.”
