This session introduced participants to human centred design principles and present research findings from recent research conducted in Nairobi. The goal was to both give practitioners the tools to inclusively engage end users in the design and creation of tech-based humanitarian interventions and raise awareness around the issues that people with disabilities face in humanitarian settings. Lessons were shared based on a recent project conducted with urban refugees with hearing and seeing impairments in Nairobi. These findings are currently being used by Safaricom and UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency) to make their programming more inclusive.
