The GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action was launched in 2022 to test how mobile and digital solutions can make humanitarian preparedness and response more effective. Drawing from the experiences of the Fund’s eight grantees, this report explores the realities for innovators in Africa and Asia creating anticipatory action solutions.

The report presents 10 lessons from the cohort to inform future efforts to strengthen mobile-enabled anticipatory action. The findings build on GSMA’s broader evidence base on mobile-enabled early warning systems, offering a frontline perspective from innovators working directly with communities and governments. The report complements individual case studies produced for each of the eight grantees.

The GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action was funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and was supported by the GSMA and its members.
