Around a quarter of mobile money accounts are active monthly. In 2023, that meant 435 million wallets were regularly used for everything from shopping, paying bills, saving, and borrowing—an impressive 75% increase in active accounts since before COVID-19. These frequent users are also transacting more money each year, showing just how integral mobile money has become.
