Coinciding with the launch of GSMA’s new report, Cross-border Data Flows: Realising the benefits of IoT, this 1 hour 30 minute event will explore the relationship between IoT, free trade agreements, data flows, and data protection across Africa.

Hosted by the GSMA with participants from data protection authorities, industry leaders, and international experts from across the continent of Africa, this webinar will:

  • Discuss the findings of our new GSMA report that quantifies the detrimental impact of data localization requirements vis à vis the expected gains arising from IoT;
  • Debate circumstances in which data localisation requirements may be legitimate; and,
  • Suggest practical steps to embrace the opportunities arising from the African Continental Free Trade Area, IoT and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
