GSMA Intelligence has shown that since 2014 4G has reached an extra 200 million people, 40 million new social media accounts, and 30,000 active mobile applications developed locally. Now, with the demands of highly influential Millennial and Generation Z consumers, the African Union is aiming to bring the continent on par with the rest of the world as an information society. As tech and entrepreneurship gathers speed across the region, a new age is fast emerging in Africa: the age of the digital citizen.
As the number of active users and investment continues to grow, what do citizens of the future want?
