The GSMA Fusion roundtables brought together senior leaders from automotive, aviation, and telecom to tackle the future of connected, network-enabled mobility. These invitation-only sessions focused on collaboration, clear outcomes, and practical roadmaps to accelerate innovation across sectors.

Automotive Roundtable: The Future of Connected Vehicles

As vehicles evolve into software-defined, autonomous platforms, connectivity alone isn’t enough. The automotive roundtable explored how programmable networks, standardised APIs, and assured performance can enable advanced in-car experiences and intelligent vehicle services globally.

Key outcomes:

  • Defined connectivity and API requirements for next-gen vehicles
  • Shaped a shared roadmap for network-enabled mobility
  • Highlighted critical Network API capabilities for autonomous driving, safety, and in-car experiences
  • Showed how GSMA Open Gateway simplifies global integration for automotive developers
  • Accelerated cross-industry collaboration for faster time-to-market

Speakers included: Lei Zhong (Toyota), Tuuli Tolmats (Elmo Remote), and Jiashun Tu (ZTE).

Aviation Roundtable: Scaling Safe Drone Operations

With drones moving beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), safety, regulatory clarity, and trusted digital identity are critical. The aviation roundtable focused on how GSMA Open Gateway APIs and Quality on Demand (QoD) enable safe, scalable drone operations.

Key outcomes:

  • Clarified regulatory expectations for BVLOS operations
  • Shaped a cross-industry roadmap for drone eConspicuity
  • Defined technical and safety requirements for large-scale deployment
  • Identified real-world trials and commercial pathways for drones

Speakers included: Christopher Nassif (FAA), Jordi Salvador (Barcelona Drone Center), and Andrew F (NCSC).

Driving Connected Ecosystems Forward

Across both sectors, the key message was clear: collaboration, standardised APIs, and programmable networks are essential for the next era of mobility and aviation. Through these roundtables, GSMA Open Gateway is enabling safer, smarter, and globally deployable connected vehicles and drones, bridging technology, policy, and commercial execution.
