Digital Virgo Joins GSMA Open Gateway as Channel Partner to Drive Innovation in the Telco Ecosystem

Digital Virgo, a key partner of telecom operators worldwide, is now a Channel Partner of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. This milestone follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that formalizes Digital Virgo’s commitment to supporting and scaling CAMARA APIs globally, as part of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative.

GSMA Open Gateway provides a unified framework of network APIs designed to open up telco capabilities to developers, cloud providers, and enterprises. As a new Channel Partner, Digital Virgo joins a global alliance of forward-thinking technology companies working together to unlock new monetization and service delivery models across the mobile ecosystem.

While Carrier Billing will be Digital Virgo’s initial area of focus within GSMA Open Gateway — leveraging its recognized expertise — the company is also actively exploring new API paths to expand its value proposition and support broader use cases.

Joining GSMA Open Gateway as a Channel Partner is a strategic step for Digital Virgo. It reflects our ambition to play a defining role in building an open, secure, and scalable telecom ecosystem. Open Gateway represents a new frontier for operator innovation, and we are proud to be part of this movement,” said Fran Sánchez Ortega, SVP Americas & COO Iberia at Digital Virgo.

“As a Direct Channel Partner, Digital Virgo is already the technical integrator of the Carrier Billing and Carrier Billing Refund APIs within the Telefónica Open Gateway initiative, showcasing practical experience and the ability to support the commercial deployment of network API solutions”, added Irene Bernal, Director of strategy and product for Telefónica Innovación Digital Open Gateway initiative.

“We’re pleased to welcome Digital Virgo to the GSMA Open Gateway community,” said Henry Calvert, Head of Networks at GSMA. “Their track record in telecom payment and monetization, combined with deep operational knowledge across global markets, makes them a valuable addition to the growing network of companies driving common API adoption.”

To date, 76 mobile operator groups representing 288 networks and almost 80% of mobile connections worldwide have joined the GSMA Open Gateway initiative.
