IDEMIA Public Security: Industry demand for assured connectivity in aviation operations

Airports and airlines are calling on mobile operators to enable mission-critical connectivity for real-time baggage identification and recovery.

About enterprise API demands

Across global aviation, delivering seamless passenger experiences is now a top priority. Yet baggage disruption remains one of the most visible and costly operational challenges, especially during peak travel and large-scale disruptions. IDEMIA Public Security is addressing this with its ALIX™ platform, which uses AI-powered “bag biometrics” to identify and recover luggage quickly through image capture and search.

However, these workflows rely on fast, reliable connectivity often in congested or degraded network environments where performance is least predictable. To enable real-time image upload and search at scale, IDEMIA Public Security is calling on mobile operators to expose Quality on Demand (QoD) and QoS APIs.

Built on GSMA Open Gateway and CAMARA standards, these APIs allow dynamic prioritisation of critical data flows, ensuring fibre-like performance over 5G even during network congestion. The message is clear: assured connectivity is essential to modern, disruption-resilient airport operations. Through collaboration, the mobile ecosystem can unlock faster baggage recovery, improved passenger satisfaction, and new enterprise service opportunities.

Baggage recovery operations rely on unpredictable network performance, limiting speed and efficiency during high-volume disruption events.
