SC.Soft Joins GSMA Open Gateway as a Channel Partner

SC.Soft has signed the GSMA Open Gateway Memorandum of Understanding and joined the initiative as a Channel Partner.

The company has built software for mobile operators since 2005. As a Channel Partner, it will work with operators across the CIS, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa to expose CAMARA-standardised network APIs to financial institutions — banks, insurance companies, payment providers, and fintechs, with an initial focus on anti-fraud, KYC and subscriber authentication.

GSMA Open Gateway is a framework of universal network APIs that provides developers with a single entry point to operator networks, rather than requiring them to integrate with each one separately. More than 73 channel partners and technology partners now use it to take operator capabilities to enterprise customers.

SC.Soft’s Subscriber Control platform is already deployed in Uzbekistan, where it is part of the country’s national Antifraud system. Built on Open Gateway technologies, the platform uses real-time network signals to support fraud prevention for banks and other financial institutions and handles device-retail use cases, such as IMEI registration and verification at the point of sale.

The case for network APIs is not only about protecting bank customers, but also about protecting operators themselves. SC.Soft has seen cases where mobile network operators have absorbed financial losses because subscriber information held inside the network — a recent SIM swap, a device change, a number reassignment — was not surfaced to the financial institution in time. Open Gateway closes that gap. The information is already in the network; the APIs are what get it to the bank in the seconds that matter.

“We have been building software for mobile operators for many years,” said Evgenу Kurennoy, Chief Commercial Officer at SC.Soft. “What the Uzbekistan deployment showed us is how much network APIs can do for fraud prevention once they are properly wired into a bank’s transaction flow — and how much exposure operators themselves carry when that information does not flow. As a Channel Partner we want to help more operators set up the same kind of integration in their own markets.”

“SC.Soft’s track record across Central Asia, the CIS and Africa, together with a live deployment of network APIs powering Uzbekistan’s national antifraud platform, makes them a valuable addition to the channel partner ecosystem.” — Henry Calvert, Head of Networks at GSMA.
