Connected Fintech and Commerce Forum #18
Powering Growth Through Fintech
The Connected Fintech and Commerce Forum returns on 1 October for the first event in our Autumn/Winter series.
Following the summer break, we will begin with two practical case studies exploring how GSMA members VEON, and MTN, in conjunction with partner Yabx, are placing fintech at the heart of their growth strategies.
The JazzCash Story: How Digital Financial Services Are Enabling VEON’s Digital Operator Strategy
Digital financial services are a key enabler of VEON’s digital operator strategy, with a growing contribution to the Group’s revenue and digital portfolio. At the heart of this strategy is the belief that access to financial services is a foundation for a better life. JazzCash, Pakistan’s leading fintech, demonstrates how this approach can translate into scale and impact, using a deep understanding of customer needs to expand access to payments, digital lending, savings, insurance and investments, with digital assets emerging as the next opportunity as regulation evolves. The session will explore JazzCash’s growth journey, its contribution to Pakistan’s financial inclusion and digital economy goals, and the lessons it offers for building digital financial services in emerging markets.
Creating Digital Credit Infrastructure for Rwanda: How AI-Driven Credit Intelligence is enabling Micro-Credit Products
This case study explores how MTN Mobile Money Rwanda and Yabx Technologies are building the credit infrastructure needed to turn mobile money transaction data into AI-driven credit intelligence and ultimately into a range of micro-credit products for underserved customers.
By combining MTN Mobile Money’s rich transaction ecosystem and credit bureau, with Yabx’s AI-driven credit scoring, analytics and lending capabilities, the partnership demonstrates how everyday mobile money activity can be transformed into meaningful credit intelligence, enabling more informed, scalable credit decisions. The presentation will explore the journey from transaction data to AI-driven credit intelligence to micro-credit products, highlighting the technology, partnership model, key learnings, and opportunities to build more inclusive and sustainable digital lending ecosystems across Africa.
