The Smart Mobility Summit returned to Seoul this year on 1 October at M360 APAC. Major MNOs in the region participated and presented their insights into the booming intelligent connected vehicles and urban air mobility. The 75-minute session began with Kangrim Choi of KT discussing how their company is using AI, big-data and the cloud to transform mobility, particularly through their own AI solutions. Following that, Jeong-Il Kim of SK Telcom shared current technology trends and challenges in the UAM business. Zaif Siddiqi of NTT went on to discuss its smart mobility initiatives, which include a video distributed management platform, cloud-based assist platform, and network in the air.
In the panel discussion, Hojun Kim, representative of 5GAA discussed the evolution of V2X and the different challenges faced by regions, while Jae-Eun Lee of bitsensing shared about the latest development of radar technology applications in vehicles. Safety and performance enhancement are clearly the top priorities in autonomous driving, and technological advancements, including radar and 5G-V2X are critical for the automotive industry and other mobility services.
