The aviation industry is entering a completely new era, with solutions-and-impact/industries/smart-mobility/air-mobility/ at the heart of this, bringing in opportunity and innovation. However, for solutions-and-impact/industries/smart-mobility/air-mobility/ to deliver scalable and sustainable commercial solutions, they need to be autonomous and operate beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). Once this is achieved then the commercial potential is immense. SESAR suggests a European demand of a valuation in excess of EUR 10 billion annually by 2035 and over EUR 15 billion annually by 2050 (for governments and commercial businesses). And Drone Industry Insights indicates that drone application in the energy sector is expected to reach a global market value of up to US$6 billion by 2025. This seminar, Discovering Commercial Opportunities in Advanced Air Mobility, was part of the Industry City’s Aviation Summit at MWC Barcelona 2022. Senior MNOs and specialist service providers gave their unique perspectives on the challenges faced in new business development and offered advice for successful cross-industry collaboration.
