Version 18.0
This specification defines the overall interaction between an RCS client and the network as well as covering some network internal procedures to support that.
Compared to the previous version, it adds support for the sharing of user profiles when sending messages in 1-to-1 and Group Chat Conversations, allowing to identify the party more easily when they’re not in the recipient’s address book. This includes procedures allowing the user to control whom the profile is shared with as well as defined interfaces to exchange profile information when sender and recipient are using different user profile servers.
Furthermore it provides smaller enhancements such as the sending of disposition notifications for reactions, recall and delete message requests allowing for a more consistent user experience for the sender and the possibility to use content-compression for messages which would make end-to-end encryption more efficient. This new version also brings some smaller procedural improvements and aligns with the other specifications that have been updated or introduced as part of the RCS Universal Profile 4.1 release.
