SWISSto12 has partnered with German space subsystem providers HPS GmbH and LSS GmbH to develop a large deployable reflector subsystem for the NEASTAR-1 mission built on the HummingSat platform. The project aims to deliver what the companies claim will be the world’s first direct-to-device media broadcasting capability from a geostationary (GEO) satellite. The contract is co-funded by the European Space Agency and the German Space Agency within German Aerospace Center as part of efforts to strengthen Europe’s sovereign and resilient space communications capabilities.
