Session 1 – Unmasking the human factor in mobile fraud
Since early 2021 there has been a reported rise in online scam operations, including a link to modern slavery. These concerns occur in the context of wide-ranging digital criminal activity such as romance-investment scams, crypto fraud, money laundering and illegal gambling. Whilst the industry works with law enforcement to tackle the link between the technical controls to the physical arrest of a perpetrator, it is important to acknowledge that there are two sets of victims in this complex phenomenon; the people who are defrauded and the ones who are forced into criminality.
Session 2 – Staying ahead of fraud: Understand, identify, prevent
This session provided a comprehensive examination of fraud typologies; it explored the varied and evolving forms that fraud can take in today’s global environment. It identified the attack vectors of fraud, such as social engineering, phishing, account takeover and more. It highlighted how the industry is working to reduce the level of fraud globally, with participants gaining insights into both the challenges posed by fraud, and the dynamic, multi-layered approaches being developed to protect organisations and consumers globally.
