GSMA shares mobile industry perspectives on AI at ITU training in Tajikistan

The GSMA participated in the ITU Training on AI Governance and Use Cases, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 3–4 September, bringing the mobile industry perspective to discussions on AI policy, adoption and responsible innovation.

The training brought together government representatives, regulators, telecom operators, technology companies and experts to explore approaches to AI governance and practical use cases as Tajikistan advances its national AI ambitions.

AI and the mobile industry

Konstantin Savin, Technology Lead, GSMA Eurasia, presented the GSMA’s AI strategy and activities, highlighting the growing role of telecom operators in the AI economy. The presentation covered Telco-Grade AI, AI for Growth and Inclusive AI, as well as the role of AI in the evolution of mobile networks towards 5G-Advanced and 6G.

Building trust through Responsible AI

Andrea Cartwright, Senior Manager, Responsible AI at GSMA, shared the GSMA approach to building trust and maturity in AI. She highlighted how strong AI governance can enable innovation while managing risks, and introduced the GSMA Responsible AI Roadmap — a practical framework designed to help organisations assess and advance their AI maturity.

The discussions reinforced the importance of collaboration between governments, the mobile industry and the wider technology ecosystem to enable trusted, inclusive and scalable AI adoption.
