30 September 2026 | Dushanbe, Tajikistan
The GSMA participated in the ITU Regional Development Forum for the CIS Region 2026 in Dushanbe, contributing the mobile industry perspective to discussions on partnerships, next-generation connectivity and sustainable digital development across Eurasia.
🤝 Turning partnerships into practical projects
Tair Ismailov, Regional Director, GSMA Eurasia, moderated the Partner2Connect (P2C) roundtable, bringing together representatives from across the region to explore how concrete digital development needs can be matched with investment, technology and expertise.
The discussion covered connectivity and investment, digital and AI skills, smart city initiatives and emerging satellite technologies. A key message was the importance of moving from broad commitments towards partnerships built around concrete needs, clear roles and measurable results.
🚨 Strengthening Early Warning Systems in Tajikistan
In a separate session on next-generation ICT infrastructure and emerging technologies, Tair presented GSMA activities in Eurasia, highlighting the role of mobile networks in supporting digital development and resilient connectivity.
One practical example is GSMA’s work on Early Warning Systems in Tajikistan, where GSMA is currently conducting a readiness assessment for a Cell Broadcast-based Early Warning System. The project will help assess the country’s readiness and identify key considerations for using mobile networks to deliver timely emergency alerts to people at scale.
The discussions demonstrated how regional cooperation can translate into practical initiatives that strengthen connectivity, resilience and digital inclusion.
GSMA continues to work with the ITU, governments, regulators and mobile operators across Eurasia, sharing global expertise and supporting practical projects that advance the region’s digital development.
