The GSMA North America Networks Group (NANG) is pleased to introduce a new whitepaper that explores the emerging landscape of Private Cellular Networks, with a specific focus on their interaction with public mobile networks. Cellular mobile connectivity has become the preferred choice for enterprises seeking wide area mobility coverage, interoperability, and robust service assurance frameworks. As more businesses adopt private networks, cellular technology—fuelled by the ease of spectrum availability and the evolution of 4G and cloud-native 5G infrastructure—is positioning itself as a key enabler of flexible, modular network deployments.

This whitepaper provides an exploration of private network use cases, emphasizing their potential for integration with public mobile networks. It covers aspects such as the 3GPP standardization efforts required to support these use cases and identifies any existing gaps in the current landscape.  Additionally, it explores the role of private networks in providing secure connectivity services and other enterprise-specific functionalities, with a focus on how these networks can be fully or partially integrated with public infrastructure.

This whitepaper is aimed at stakeholders across the mobile network ecosystem, including operators, industry partners, and standardization bodies such as GSMA working groups. It serves as a resource for understanding the current state and future potential of private cellular networks, while also laying the groundwork for further collaboration and development in this rapidly evolving space.
