With the gradual increase in operator services, network operators are expanding, leading to more complex structures and increased site energy consumption. Consequently, energy saving has become a key focus for operators. In typical service scenarios, site energy consumption fluctuates with traffic volume. However, current energy-saving measures remain static, failing to adapt to these fluctuations, especially during peak hours. This has left operators without effective energy-saving methods in such conditions.

Solution:
In 2024, China Mobile conducted large-scale pilots in six typical scenarios across Chengdu, Sichuan province. They implemented four innovative solutions—ultimate in depth, ultimate in speed, ultimate in intelligence, and ultimate in efficiency. These solutions involved the deployment of new energy-saving technologies such as ultimate dormancy, iSDU intelligent circuit breaker, millisecond-level channel shutdown, subsecond-level carrier shutdown, and intelligent board-based energy-saving feature enhancements. These measures significantly helped base stations reduce power consumption while maintaining uncompromised network KPIs.

Impact:
The six scenarios in Chengdu included Sichuan University, Huaxi Hospital, Taiguli, Chongzhou High-Speed Railway Station, and Dayi County, covering locations such as shopping malls, supermarkets, high-speed railways, hospitals, stadiums, and suburban areas. A total of 622 NR+LTE base stations were deployed on the live network. Without compromising KPIs, an average of 18.68% energy saving gains was achieved across all six scenarios.
