The GSMA Foundry continues to strengthen its position as the global home of mobile innovation, accelerating the shift from proof-of-concept to real-world deployment at scale.
Since its launch in 2021, the Foundry has delivered more than 80 projects, expanded its partner ecosystem to nearly 60 organisations, and significantly increased industry engagement through showcases, white papers, innovation challenges and global communities.
In 2025, the focus moved decisively toward production-grade deployment across five priority areas:
- 5G-Advanced and monetisation: Enabling AI-driven services, robotics, immersive experiences and differentiated connectivity models.
- Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN): Accelerating satellite–terrestrial convergence and direct-to-device connectivity through a rapidly growing global community.
- Artificial Intelligence: Delivering sovereign LLMs, operational AI systems and generative AI deployments in live operator environments.
- Private Networks: Providing clarity on architectures, commercial models and scalable enterprise deployment pathways.
- Fraud and Scam Prevention: Embedding verifiable identity and network-level intelligence directly into telecom infrastructure.
Strategic partnerships with leading institutions such as ESA, Barcelona Supercomputing Center and IBM are enabling large-scale innovation, backed by substantial funding commitments and expanded lab access.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Foundry will deepen its work in AI and NTN, expand into quantum technologies, launch a unified global lab network, and strengthen links with venture and investment partners to accelerate commercial scale.
