With the large-scale deployment of 5G networks and service increasement, the ever-increasing network scale and increasingly complex network structure, telecom operators face the challenge of rising energy consumption.
In typical service scenarios, a site’s energy consumption fluctuates depending on the traffic volume during peak and off-peak hours. However, current energy-saving measures are not tailored to traffic volume and remain constant regardless of fluctuations. Especially in busy hours, there is no effective energy saving method.
Solution:
Hangzhou Mobile collaborated with Huawei to implement automatic and intelligent energy saving for wireless networks based on radio access network (RAN) digital twin energy saving solution of Huawei. Operators can customize energy saving intents, including scenarios, key performance indicators (KPI) targets, and energy saving targets. Based on the digital twin simulation environment, operators can perform multi-objective fast iterative optimization on network energy saving policies and output the optimal network-level energy saving policies. Implementing one-stop energy saving in addition to the optimal energy saving effect, this feature ensures stable network KPIs and achieves optimal energy saving and user experience.
Impact:
This solution has been verified on Hangzhou Mobile. On the premise that service KPIs do not deteriorate, the average site energy consumption is reduced by 10%.
