New GSMA members are at the cutting edge of AI security, quantum technologies, advanced connectivity, benchmarking performance and software assurance.
As artificial intelligence advances at pace, it is accelerating the development of both productive and malicious software code. That presents fresh challenges for cyber security companies, such as new GSMA member F-Secure, and their customers. Founded in Helsinki 38 years ago, F-Secure says its technology now secures billions of digital interactions and protects tens of millions of consumers globally. Describing itself “as a human-first, AI-powered consumer cyber security” company, F-secure aims to help digital service providers build trust and growth by protecting customers from evolving threats, including AI-driven scams.
“AI is changing how people use digital services, and creating new challenges in how we protect them,” explains Timo Laaksonen, President & CEO of F-Secure. “Tackling these threats takes collaboration across the GSMA ecosystem. With AI-powered protection and experience working with 160 communications service providers worldwide, F-Secure has a lot to bring to the table. We’re joining GSMA to share that experience and help shape a safer digital future for everyone.”
The rapid advances in quantum technologies are also opening up both opportunities and cyber security risks. Starting with quantum-safe security and hardware-rooted trust, new GSMA member EigenQ says it is working with leading technology providers to bring quantum-ready capabilities into existing platforms that users trust, “without rip-and-replace” or added operational complexity.
“Joining GSMA reinforces our commitment to advancing secure, quantum-ready communications across the global mobile ecosystem,” says Dr. Jose Rosas, CEO of EigenQ, which is based in Texas. “As quantum advancements and AI breakthroughs reshape the cybersecurity landscape, we look forward to engaging with GSMA members and demonstrating how our deployable, hardware-based quantum-resistant technologies can help organisations build more secure, resilient communications for the quantum era.”
Bringing advanced connectivity to emerging markets
The speed at which new technologies are evolving is transforming both developed countries and emerging markets. In the latter, young telecoms operators are now building out the advanced connectivity infrastructure people and organisations need to take advantage of AI and other digital services. For example, new GSMA member RIMATEL, which was founded in 2021, has been awarded a licence to provide 5G mobile services in Mauritania. Initially established as an internet service provider and wholesale telecommunications operator, RIMATEL says it now operates Mauritania’s largest fibre-optic network, providing high-capacity, reliable infrastructure designed to support the country’s growing demand for broadband and digital services.
“Joining the GSMA represents an important step for RIMATEL as we expand our 5G services and contribute to Mauritania’s digital transformation,” notes Mohamed Mahmoud Toulba, CTO of RIMATEL. “We look forward to exchanging expertise with the global mobile community, adopting international best practices, building strategic relationships, and benefiting from GSMA’s resources to deliver innovative, reliable and inclusive connectivity to our customers”
Meanwhile, another new member Phil-Tower Consortium Inc. is helping to deploy advanced connectivity infrastructure across the thousands of islands that make up The Philippines. As it provides shared infrastructure solutions that support mobile operators in expanding and strengthening their networks, PhilTower says it is developing resilient, sustainable and future-ready infrastructure that contributes to the continued digital transformation of the Philippines.
“We joined GSMA because the future of connectivity is built through shared learning and stronger global collaboration,” explains Devid H. Gubiani, President and CEO of PhilTower. “PhilTower brings into that conversation the realities of Philippine deployment – from site economics and resilience to hard-to-reach communities. In return, we gain insights that help us build smarter, scale faster, and turn investment into reliable infrastructure that connects more Filipinos, more sustainably, nationwide.”
Moving deeper into the mobile ecosystem
Other new GSMA members are also supporting the rollout of high-performing networks and supporting operations. Based in Latvia, TestDevLab describes itself as a global software quality assurance company helping startups and Fortune 500 firms ship better products. With more than 500 engineers, the company delivers test automation, performance, and AI testing services across telecom, financial services, and healthcare, backed by custom AI and audio video testing setups for mobile and communications apps.
“As a company testing communications and mobile products worldwide, we joined GSMA to be closer to the standards and conversations shaping the mobile ecosystem,” says Nikolajs Varlamovs, Technical Director of TestDevLab. “We hope to learn from industry peers, contribute our expertise in quality engineering and build partnerships with operators and vendors that help deliver more reliable connected experiences.”
In a similar vein, technology consultancy P3 communications is joining the GSMA to be at the “heart of the global mobile ecosystem.” Stuttgart-based P3 aims to help “telecom providers navigate their digital future through AI-native solutions, delivering measurable improvements in network performance, operational efficiency, and customer experience.” Part of the P3 group, the consultancy says it combines deep telco domain expertise with AI-native telco services.
“Building on our expertise in network benchmarking and optimization, we aim to help define how user and customer experience is measured and continuously improved,” adds Hakan Ekmen, CEO of P3 communications and P3 re:invent. “In addition, together with GSMA members, we want to shape industry standards and advance AI-native, autonomous networks and seamless terrestrial and satellite connectivity.”
Another new GSMA member, Lebanon-based MobiMind is also helping telecoms operators deliver a better customer experience. Describing itself as a leading telecom technology provider and master aggregator in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, MobiMind specialises in mobile value-added services and direct carrier billing, content aggregation, and digital monetisation. Its goal is to help telecom operators boost customer engagement, unlock revenue streams, and accelerate digital transformation.
“Joining the GSMA connects MobiMind with the global telecom ecosystem, strengthening relationships with mobile operators, technology partners, and industry leaders,” says Naji Bou Harb, CEO of MobiMind. “We look forward to building new partnerships, exchanging insights, and exploring opportunities in fintech, carrier billing, digital content, and mobile services.”
