Connected opportunities: How mobile innovation is providing new social goods and economic opportunities through rich communication services

The Internet and online environment is no longer a new phenomenon, but continues to open doors to new forms of global and local connectivity. New technologies are constantly emerging to allow people to create communities, connect with each other, spread ideas, and share knowledge in connected communities that facilitate social learning and overcome geographical barriers for knowledge sharing and exchange.

Mobile technologies and the proliferation of location-level services are assuming a greater role than ever in terms of creating and fostering such communities. Benefits include not only greater opportunities for cultural exchange, but also enhanced convenience and economic opportunities.

The GSMA event(s) will showcase the expanding role of mobile technologies and the benefits of working on interoperable and open services, based on the RCS – JOYN example launched in Spain. It will allow the development of pan European services and also constitutes an answer to the increase usage of OTT services. Bringing together representatives from the GSMA, industry, and policymakers, the event will help identify the challenges and benefits of developing interoperable and open services in the EU.

The session will cover the following topics:
Key trends in real-world connected communities
