With the objective of creating new jobs and boosting innovation the Dutch Presidency is currently driving forward numerous discussions and initiatives around the Digital Single Market. Indeed, Europe needs a forward-looking policy and a regulatory framework that further strengthens the region as a preferred location for investment and innovation to underpin its digital economy.

Europe has a clear potential to be a world leader in information and communication technologies if the right policies are applied. As the key to future European prosperity, digital has to be diffused throughout all parts of European society and economy. Creating a true Digital Single Market will benefit all European citizens and drive our digital economy back to the top.

The GSMA, is organizing the breakfast meeting on ‘The Digital Single Market and the 2016 Dutch EU Presidency’ to bring together high-level industry and policy representatives to discuss what actions need to be taken to make this step change and, in particular, what regulatory barriers need to be tackled both in the short term, under the Dutch Presidency of the EU, and in the long term.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Wepke Kingma, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the European Union.
