Girls in Tech: Anne Bouverot on “Neelie Talks”

In an interview for the Neelie Kroes-led initiative to “get Every European Digital,” Anne Bouverot, the Director General of the GSMA, talked about the digital skills gap and the shortage of engineers, in particular,  Ms Bouverot outlined how increasing the participation of women in the digital sector would help tackle this skills shortage.

She also encouraged more women to work in male-dominated fields. Quoting Ellen Sirleaf, Ms Bouverot said: “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”

 

“The mobile industry is not only about mobile and not only about technology,” she added. “The mobile industry is really something that changes people’s lives and changes a whole range of other sectors. There are huge opportunities for women and men to contribute to the great change that this brings to society.”
