GSMA to support 2015 mHealth Grand Tour

Travelling through some of the most beautiful parts of Europe, the mHealth Grand Tour is a 1,400km epic bike ride from Brussels to Geneva to demonstrate cutting edge mobile health (mHealth) solutions. The GSMA is proud to be participating in this year’s event alongside Orange and Etisalat.

The Tour will raise awareness and funds for diabetes – a chronic health condition that is becoming increasingly widespread. Throughout the event, riders will be equipped with the latest mHealth devices, such as connected blood glucose readers and heart monitors, and bike sensors that measure distance travelled, height climbed and rest periods.

Participants will engage with many players in the wider ecosystem, including healthcare professionals and technology experts. The Tour is a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the latest innovations in mHealth and a deeper understanding of mHealth from leading experts in this field.

This year’s Tour follows the highly successful 2013 mHealth Grand Tour which received considerable media coverage and was the subject of an academic study by Newcastle University. The GSMA Connected Living programme will track the progress of the 2015 tour and produce a mHealth case study.

The GSMA will mark the departure of the mHealth Grand Tour on Thursday 3 September 2015 from the Cinquantenaire in Brussels with an event showcasing innovative mHealth solutions. Attendees will also be able to meet leading mHealth experts.
