GSMANA RIG 92: A Recap of Productive Sessions and Workshops in Puerto Rico

From February 6th to February 9th, the GSMA North America hosted RIG 92 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This four-day event brought together industry leaders, operators, and providers for a series of structured sessions and workshops aimed at addressing key issues and opportunities in the region’s telecom landscape.

Day 1: Focus on 5G and Service Group

The week commenced with  the Service Group Working Group and the 5G/5G Advance workshop. Participants engaged in pragmatic conversations about the deployment and optimization of 5G technology, considering its implications for service offerings and network infrastructure.

Day 2: Network Optimization and RCS Integration

Day 2 featured sessions on the NA Network Group, the NAVA TF, and the NA RCS Taskforce. Attendees explored strategies for enhancing network performance and scalability, with a particular emphasis on advancing Rich Communication Services (RCS) to meet evolving consumer expectations.

Day 3: Addressing Security and Promoting Diversity

Security and diversity took center stage on Day 3, with discussions spanning the NA WAS/IDS, NA Fraud and Security Group, NA Women and Diversity in Tech, and NA Terminals Working Group sessions. Among other important topics in the working groups agendas, participants exchanged insights on mitigating security risks and promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Day 4: Strategic Planning with the CTO Advisory Group

The conference concluded with the CTO Advisory Group session, where CTOAG members evaluate the different takeaways from the the sessions and strategized activities and future initiatives to be addressed by the working groups. where participants strategized for future initiatives and addressed emerging challenges. This session provided a platform for collaborative decision-making and long-term planning, ensuring alignment with industry objectives and regulatory requirements.
