Climate Action
Transitioning the mobile industry to net zero by 2050
Our climate action mission
Climate change is one of the greatest threats humanity has ever faced, and the mobile industry has a pivotal part to play in fighting this global crisis. The GSMA Climate Action team works with mobile operators, suppliers, international organisations and governments across the globe to ensure we cooperate for maximum impact.
In 2019, the mobile industry set a goal to reach net zero by 2050. With this, we became one of the first sectors in the world to set such an ambitious target.
A plethora of work driven by the GSMA is moving the needle towards this 2050 goal. Key focuses include convening, research, advocacy and the creation of practical tools such as industry-specific climate transition plan guidance.
