The GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action was launched in November 2022. Backed solutions that leverage mobile digital technology, the Fund helps anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. By focusing on of anticipatory action, the Fund contributes to minimising humanitarian impacts and improving preparedness in the face of sudden-onset crises. This case study shares lessons and outcomes from the project with ActionAid.
ActionAid is a global federation present in 45 countries around the world. They work to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication. With the support of the GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action, ActionAid is enhancing Cambodia’s national early warning system (EWS 1294). They are strengthening community preparedness in the face of climate hazards. ActionAid have upgraded and expanded groundwater monitoring sensors, creating more inclusive communication channels and improved coordination with government agencies. The project delivered more reliable and actionable early warnings to communities at risk.
