Digital Financial Services (DFS) are now central to Sub-Saharan Africa’s economic participation – how do we make sure that participation is safe, fair and informed?

The session opened with a fireside chat between Ashley Olson Onyango (GSMA) and Erwan Gelebart (Axian Fintech), focusing on the evolution of mobile money in sub-Saharan Africa and the importance of fostering equitable and sustainable usage.

A panel discussion, moderated by Nyiva Musyoka (GSMA) and featuring Henry Gakami (Visa), Joanne Chanda (Jumo), and Jean Pascal Mvondo (CTCA), examined how investments in privacy and security influence the uptake and usage of DFS—particularly among women and other marginalised groups.
