On Wed 4 Mar 2026 the GSMA held the annual Open Gateway Summit at MWC Barcelona. The summit brought together speakers and panelists from across the globe and provided real insights into how the adoption of network APIs has been accelerating in the past year.

The Open Gateway Summit had three separate themed sessions:
Session 1: Understanding the Network API ecosystem (1 hour)
Session 2: From Identity to Programmability (1 hour)
Session 3: Dial M for Monetise (1 hour)
Session 1: Understanding the expanding Network API ecosystem.
Moderated by the GSMA’s Open Gateway Marketing Director, Justin Paul. This session looked in detail at the breadth of the global Network API ecosystem with representatives from industry leaders from operators to aggregators to enterprises.
Session 2: From Identity to Programmability: The impact of advanced network APIs on future services.
The GSMA’s Mobile Identity Director, Helene Vigue moderated this session looking at the evolution of network APIs from identity and anti-fraud to advanced network APIs and examining how agentic AI and MCP servers will use APIs.
Session 3: Dial M for Monetise: How vertical industries are using network APIs to solve real-world business problems.
“What is Fusion?” The GSMA’s new Head of Fusion, Natasha Nayak ran this session looked in detail at how enterprises use and will use network APIs to solve real-world problems with a heavy focus on the aviation industry as an early-adopter.
