GSMA RCS Universal Profile 3.0 specifications

The Rich Communication Services (RCS) Universal Profile 3.0 has now been published. This specification defines the service experience and user experience for the features that are part of RCS. The major step forward covered by this latest version is that it includes the requirements and experience for the end-to-end encryption of RCS Messages, Files and other user provided content have been defined. This includes not only the encryption itself and the controls that users would have over that, but also side-effects such as the need for improved client-side spam detection and handling. Next to that, this new version brings enhancements to improve the interaction with Chatbots (a more flexible format for deep links to initiate a conversation, the addition of an action to copy text to the clipboard, unsubscribing and re-subscribing, etc.). The actual technical realisation of these enhancements relies on the other RCS specifications that have been updated as part of this release and that are available on this page.
